Typical mechanic shop that can and will charge you whatever they want for the work to be done because they know you aren't ASE certified and NEED Your car. I have been here a couple times for minor issues (oil changes, etc). However I sent my wife recently to get an estimate on a brake job. I know it's not suppose to happen, but I when women walk into any hardware or automotive store, I can practically see the dollar signs in the eyes of the clerk. The shop did an inspection and as you can imagine EVERYTHING needed to be replaced. I guess we got lucky that we came in when we did, because judging by the estimate the only thing stopping our car was a stiff breeze and maybe a hope and prayer. My wife called me with an $800 estimate for a brake job. After I picked the phone off the floor, I told her to run. Don't even get the car, forget the car, we can come back and get it later because your in the process of being robbed. They listed things like a hub service- our Nissan armada does not need a hub service for a break job. Maybe they though we had a 1988 4-runner, Easily mistaken. Of course the brakes were shot, the calipers were bad and needed to be replaced. (There was slight difference in pad wear from inside to outside, but nothing that a little lube on the slides wouldn't fix and nothing I would consider out of the ordinary). Oh yeah, the rotors needed to be replaced too because they were out of spec and couldn't be machined. Even though they have NEVER been machined before in their short lives. ( the auto parts store I ended up taking them to had no problem machining them.) In the end, I did the work myself and it all cost me about $75 in parts and 2 hours out of my day. The calipers were fine, the rotors got turned and were fine, and no magical hub service was performed. We also went to brakes plus for an estimate and it came back around $200 if that means anything. I'm pretty sure if I would have been out of town, my wife would have been taken for $800. I'm also pretty sure that if I was the one who brought the vehicle in, the estimate would have looked a lot different. In any case, we won't be going back, and won't be recommending them to anybody. Go ahead and take your chances. I'm not rich so I prefer not to pay 10 x the value for anything, but maybe that's just me.
Thank you for letting us know about this. Feedback helps us tackle issues and become a better business. From what we can see your experience was not reflective of our brand. We are really sorry for that. That is unacceptable. We want every customer to feel as though they are getting the services they need without feeling as though they are being robbed. We are truly sorry we did not provide you with the best possible experience. We will be contacting the staff involved and looking into what we can do to ensure that this does not happen again.
